A Robin Cried

I thought I heard a Robin cry
and it was singing out your name.
A tear slid down the window sill,
for I'd never be the same.
Cautiously a foreboding
crept into my heart,
and I tasted bitter tears,
knowing we had to part.
Remarkedly a sparrow sang,
slightly out of tune,
as if its' heart was broken,
and hadn't any room.
One foot raised above the water,
I dipped a toe inside,
then immersed my grieving heart,
till I was satisfied.
